In this edition of our newsletter, we're excited to share our Volunteer Impact Report for Q2 2025 where you'll see the incredible difference your time and dedication have made across the region. Your efforts, combined with those of fellow volunteers, truly add up. Thank you for helping build a stronger, more connected Middle Tennessee.

Second Quarter Overview

Between April and June, 538 dedicated volunteers gave a remarkable 4,661 hours of service through GNRC opportunities. According to the Independent Sector, that time translates to an incredible value of $142,394 of service to our communities. We also welcomed 87 new volunteers to the portal. Thank you for stepping up and sharing your time and talents. We're grateful to have you on board!

Friendly Visitor/ Neighbor Program

Friendly Visitors with the Guardianship Program bring compassion and kindness to their clients. In Q2, 10 Friendly Visitors made 69 visits to 13 clients, contributing a total of 90 hours to provide connection, comfort, and companionship.

Our Friendly Neighbor volunteers also made a meaningful impact this quarter. Two volunteers completed 15 visits, spending 21.75 hours supporting their clients with errands, conversation, and friendly check-ins that make a real difference in daily life. Thank you for showing up with kindness!

Medicare Program

Our Medicare Counseling Program Volunteers have been busy with community outreach in Q2. Volunteers provided one-on-one counseling to 1,688 clients, staffed 25 outreach events reaching 1,171 individuals, and gave 12 presentations to a total of 415 attendees. Altogether, they contributed an incredible 2,076 hours to this vital work. Thank you for empowering others with information and support around Medicare!

Letter Writing Campaign

Thanks to your creativity and compassion, the letter campaign continues to thrive. In Q2 alone, volunteers sent 5,176 letters, offering encouragement and joy to 1,699 residents each month. Since launching in April 2020, we've now reached a grand total of 117,763 letters sent! Your words truly help older adults and disabled individuals feel seen and cared for.

Digital Literacy Classes for Older Adults

Thanks to 7 amazing volunteer trainers, 99 older adults completed a digital literacy class learning basic computer skills and functions to operate a Chrome Book and Google applications. After completing 15 hours of training, older adults received a free Chrome Book to take home through GNRC's partnership with Tech Goes Home. Thank you to the patient volunteers who gave 315 hours of their time to teach the classes and prepare for them. You empowered these older adults in this digital world to be successful. We are looking forward to hosting more classes in the next couple of months.

Administrative and Communication Services

Behind the scenes, volunteers supporting administrative and quality assurance tasks are essential to keeping everything running smoothly. In Q2, 8 volunteers contributed 18.5 hours in the office, helping with everything from data entry to organizational tasks. We also had one volunteers spending 7 hours taking landmark and landscape photographs of Portland for a planning project. Your time and attention to detail are deeply appreciated.
