Happy Fall!

We are excited to bring the third quarter volunteer impact report to you today! Welcome to the 130 new volunteers! We are thrilled to have you as part of the incredible GNRC Volunteer Team!

This quarter we are thankful to the 420 volunteers who were active in the third quarter and contributed a total of 3,816 hours to GNRC volunteer opportunities. We are grateful for your contributions of time and talent! You are an incredible extension to the work our staff does and help us make a far greater impact. Thank you!

Letter Campaign

This quarter we are proud to have hit an incredible milestone - thanks to you. Volunteers have sent a grand total of 100,418 letters since the start of the letter campaign in April 2020. We are so proud of you for your continued support of this incredible campaign to bring joy to seniors in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

This quarter volunteers sent 2,055 letters to 1,836 seniors and disabled individuals in nursing homes and assisted living facilities across Middle TN.

Friendly Visitor & Friendly Neighbor Program

Volunteers play a very important role in combating social isolation. Not only do you make important social visits where you connect with others, but you also are an extension of GNRC staff by letting us know of any changes in the client's condition or any needs they may have that otherwise wouldn't be addressed as quickly. Thank you to the 12 Friendly Visitors with the GNRC Guardianship for the Elderly program who gave a collective 99 hours to make 72 visits to 15 program clients. And a huge thank you to our wonderful Friendly Neighbor who made 5 visits to her client for a total of 8 hours over the last quarter to assist with reading mail and provide social connection.

Aging and Disability Services Programming

This quarter we had the unique opportunity to partner with the Home Delivered Meal Programs we support in Middle Tennessee to provide Wellness Bags for each program participant. Two wonderful volunteers spent 4 hours putting together those Wellness Bags.

GNRC staff are super appreciative of the 13 volunteers who spent 54.5 hours supporting the Quality Assurance Program and assisting with administrative tasks in the office.

Accessibility of information in multiple languages is important and one of the things we are striving to improve. Thank you to the two lovely bilingual volunteers who spent 4 hours translating transportation surveys and information for the Coordinated Human Services Transportation Improvement Plan into Spanish.

Medicare Counseling Program:

While the Medicare Counseling Program is currently in its busiest season during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, assisting beneficiaries with Plan Comparisons for their Drug or Medicare Advantage plans, we are happy to brag on all their beautiful work during the summer month as well. Program volunteers contributed 2,531 hours of their time. In that time contributed, volunteers counseled 1,898 clients through one-on-one sessions, staffed 30 outreach events and gave 15 Medicare presentations to educate the community. This volunteer team is a truly incredible bunch.

In September many of the volunteers attended the Statewide Volunteer Conference hosted by the Department on Disability and Aging. We hope you enjoy the group picture.

Art Builds Communities

7 volunteers spent 78.5 hours reviewing and scoring 52 grant applications for the Art Builds Community Grant Program. Their expertise and questions are invaluable in making recommendations to the Arts Commission on which projects should receive funding. The Arts Commission awarded grants to 41 applicants.

Thank you for all the big and small contributions you make to make Middle Tennessee a better area to live for all of us. We are proud of your impact!

Thank you for spending your time with us!
