Join us at the 2026 State Basketball Tournament with Special Olympics Tennessee!
Athletes from across the state will come together for a powerful weekend of competition, teamwork, and inclusion, and we need YOU to help make it happen. Volunteers support athletes, assist with event operations, and help create an unforgettable experience.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Fri. (03/06) | 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Venue Set-Up
Help set up tables, hang banners, and prepare the space for an amazing tournament. Then stay for the Cheer Tunnel at Opening Ceremonies from 2:45 PM – 3:15 PM and help us give athletes an unforgettable welcome to begin competition!

Sat. (03/07) | 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM
Junior Athletes | Support Crew
Celebrate athletes ages 6–12 as they rotate through basketball skill stations and practice games in an encouraging beginner environment. 

Sat. (03/07) | 3:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Court Crew - Shift 3 
Assist with timekeeping and scorekeeping during tournament play.
Basketball experience is a bonus, but all volunteers will receive on-site training to feel confident and ready.

Music City Blitz, presented by Nissan is an unforgettable flag football invitational giving Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners the opportunity to showcase their skills inside an NFL stadium!

Athletes from across Tennessee and throughout the United States will compete in this exciting event at Nissan Stadium, creating a one-of-a-kind experience filled with energy, teamwork, and inclusion.

Volunteers are essential to making the day a success! Opportunities include:

Field crew assistance

Lunch distribution

Awards ceremonies

Volunteer: Train 4 Life

Special Olympics Tennessee Fitness Program is a wellness initiative focused on fitness, nutrition, and mental health for teens and adults (ages 13+) with intellectual disabilities. Through goal-setting and measurable outcomes, we aim to empower athletes to take control of their health and reduce the disparities often faced by individuals with intellectual disabilities.

One of our key programs, Train 4 Life, is a 12-week fitness, nutrition, and wellness series. Each session lasts 60 minutes and is designed to help athletes build healthy habits in a supportive, inclusive environment. Weekly workout sessions starting January 19th through April 11th. Volunteers assist head coaches and athletes during weekly workouts. You can sign up for any individual sessions you’re available to attend.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Set up and break down of fitness stationsSupport the flow of workout stationsAssist coaches with counting and tracking repsCheer on and encourage athletes throughout the session

No experience is needed, just bring your energy and enthusiasm!

What to Know Before You Arrive:

Please arrive 5 minutes early and check in with the lead coachWear athletic attire and closed-toe shoes (you’ll be on your feet)Bring a filled water bottle to stay hydratedVolunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone. Please contact the event coordinator to get them registered.
