Get Involved!
There are many ways to get involved in creating a stronger society that safeguards our communities and prevents elder abuse from occurring. We can all be "beams" of support in our society structure. Here are a few ways you can join us in supporting this cause and spreading awareness:
- Prevent isolation by calling or writing to older adults in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Join our letter-writing campaign!
- Give a caregiver a break- Caregiving is hard work, and providing relief even for a few hours can really bring rejuvenation to those who are struggling.
- Advocate by sharing information on Elder Abuse and financial fraud with doctors, pastors, bank managers, friends and family members.
- Spread awareness on social media - Add a custom WEAAD facebook frame to your profile picture here.
- Wear a purple ribbon or purple shirt on June 15th in honor of elder abuse survivors
- Join #WalkforWEAAD - a Virtual Walk to build a national justice movement
- Participate in the #WEAAD615 Challenge: List 6 facts about elder abuse, share 1 thing to prevent it and tag 5 people on social media
