Hello Friends and Volunteers of GNRC!

We hope you have had a good start to 2022 so far! We are excited to present to you the Impact Report for Quarter 4 and 2021 - A Year in Review Newsletter! We hope you enjoy looking back and seeing how you have made a difference in Middle Tennessee Communities through your volunteer service in 2021. We are grateful to you for supporting GNRC's mission and those of our partners! Thank you for spending your valuable time with us - making a difference!

Holiday Recap

During the Holiday season many of you participated in writing letters for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas and the New Year to bring some holiday cheers to the seniors and disabled individuals in nursing homes and assisted living facilities - you wrote a total of 8,765 letters in just those three months. WOW! I am sure the love was felt by the recipients. Thank you!

For the year 2021 that put us right at 24,899 letters and that brings the grand total for the Letter Campaign to 41,608 letters since its inception in April of 2020. Isn't it amazing how the letters add up and just a few minutes of your time turn into having a HUGE collective impact in our community?

Volunteer Opportunity Spotlight: Medicare Counseling

Our extremely dedicated Medicare Counseling Volunteers with GNRC's State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) have navigated yet another very successful Open Enrollment season this Fall! Volunteers helped Medicare beneficiaries access their Prescription Drug and Advantage Plan choices, so they could pick the best option for them in 2022. They also assisted beneficiaries with plan enrollments. In the fourth Quarter of 2021 over 2,000 clients received counseling by one of our knowledgeable volunteers. That brings us to a total of 8,140 clients who were counseled by our volunteers alone in 2021. Volunteers with the SHIP program have also spent time on administrative tasks and doing outreach for the program. They have contributed a total of 9,120 hours in 2021. A huge shout out to the volunteers with this program. I am truly impressed with the extensive knowledge you retain to help others!

I also want to thank GNRC's communication and photography volunteers. You created graphics and social media posts helped proofread materials before publication and took pictures at events and headshots. GNRC is grateful to you for sharing your talents and skill with us.

Thank you to the 428 volunteers who have been active in the last Quarter of 2021. You contributed 5,907 volunteer hours in Q4. I think that is very impressive. With the numbers from Q4, that puts us to a total of 1,054 volunteers contributing 19,199 volunteer hours for GNRC programming in 2021.

Based on the value of volunteer time in Tennessee from the Independent Sector, those 19,199 volunteer hours are worth $470,951.50!

In the New Year

For 2022, we are excited to welcome volunteers again to the Public Guardianship for the Elderly program. We just held our first training of the year with 10 wonderful individuals who will be paired with clients in the next couple of weeks. Volunteers with the Guardianship program visit with their assigned clients at least twice a month in the nursing home or assisted living facility where they are located. The goal is to develop a friendly relationship with the client to help combat social isolation, grow a friendship and improve our client's care.

We are looking forward to interacting with you through the variety of volunteer opportunities in 2022 and hope to see you at the annual Volunteer Celebration during Volunteer Month in April.

Stay healthy, fabulous and spread your contagious kindness in the world!
