Hello, my name is Tosh, and I am writing to share some exciting news. Today, you are reading the GNRC's first ever blog post, on the first ever volunteer website. It is our hope that this blog will provide encouragement and allow you the opportunity to connect with others and learn more about the various roles and services GNRC provides.
If you're reading this, you may be one of many volunteers who make the mission of GNRC possible. GNRC relies on volunteers like you to provide valuable services to thousands of citizens in the Middle Tennessee area. We believe the volunteers who partner with GNRC and its initiatives share one thing in common- a passion and belief in community development and making our region a better place for those who call Middle Tennessee home, one act of service at a time. And, we're so glad you're here!
I, too, am a volunteer with the GNRC. I joined the volunteer team because I wanted the means to harness my skills in marketing communications to make a positive difference in my community. What attracted me to the GNRC was the cross-section between regional development, focus on health/well-being programming, and their commitment to connecting people and empowering them with the tools they need to go out and help others who may struggle with everyday actions and choices that many of us take for granted. This is my "why." However, I'd like to know more about your "why."
Over the coming months, we'll be reaching out to you and inviting you to share more about what motivated you to volunteer. We'll also ask for feedback about how we can better support you as a volunteer. We'll share these stories and also offer information about volunteer opportunities and other resources. If you have a story or are willing share how volunteering has enhanced your life or experiences you believe are compelling and encouraging, we'd love to hear about them! You can email them to volunteer@gnrc.org.
Your comrade in arms,
---Tosh
