GNRC held its annual volunteer appreciation event virtually on April 12, 2022 to honor all of its wonderful volunteers for their dedication and service. Mayor Paige Brown gave opening remarks and expressed her gratitude for their contributions. Executive Director, Michael Skipper discussed the importance of volunteerism and the tremendous impact it has in the Middle Tennessee area. Rebecca Nofi, GNRC's Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager, shared some highlights and the impact volunteers have made in 2021. In 2021, GNRC volunteers have contributed 19,199 hours through GNRC volunteer opportunities - that is an increase of 27% compared to 2020! According to the Independent Sector who publishes a value of volunteer hours each year, those volunteer hours are worth over $470,950! 1,054 volunteers contributed to the 19,199 hours of service and 30 of those have reported more then 100 hours of volunteer service which is a 36% increase from 2020. Thank you for spending more time volunteering with GNRC! We welcomed 1,011 new users in the volunteer portal and we are excited to see that number continue to rise as people look for ways to connect and be involved in making a difference while making new friends.
