Hello Friends and Volunteers of GNRC!
We hope 2023 has been off to a good start for you! We are excited to present to you the Volunteer Impact Report for 2022 - A Year in Review Newsletter! We hope you enjoy looking back and seeing how you have made a difference in Middle Tennessee Communities through your volunteer service in 2022. We are grateful for your support of GNRC's mission and those of our partners! Thank you for spending your valuable time with us - making a difference!
In 2022, we had 1,134 volunteers actively participating in GNRC volunteer opportunities - that is 80 more active volunteers than in 2021! We were excited to welcome a variety of volunteer groups and corporate teams to our volunteer opportunities this year. Overall GNRC volunteers have given 18,116 hours of their time in 2022. Thank you for giving your most precious asset - TIME - to volunteer with us! According to the Independent Sector Rates for Volunteers, those hours are valued at $542,574! Thank you for making that kind of investment!

Letter Campaign Recap
The Holiday season is a popular time to write letters and cards. Many of you participated in writing letters for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year to bring some holiday cheer to the seniors and disabled individuals in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Volunteers wrote a total of 9,922 letters in just those three months! WOW! I am sure the love was felt by the recipients. Thank you!
For the year 2022, that put us right at 22,724 letters and that brings the grand total for the Letter Campaign to 64,332 letters since its inception in April of 2020! Isn't it amazing how the letters add up and just a few minutes of your time turn into having a HUGE collective impact in our community? We keep getting messages about how the letters have made someone's day. Thank you for sharing your kindness with seniors and disabled individuals in Middle Tennessee and making people smile!

Friendly Visitor Program Recap
After a long hold of the Friendly Visitor Opportunity with the Public Guardianship for the Elderly program due to COVID-19 visitor restrictions in nursing homes, we were excited to start the program up again in January of 2022. We started out with 10 volunteers and grew to 14 program volunteers in 2022. Those 14 active volunteers made 209 visits to 21 clients totaling just over 400 volunteer hours for the program! Thank you for giving your time to connect with a client, making them feel heard and helping program staff better meet their needs.

Medicare Counseling Program Recap
GNRC's Medicare Counseling Program relies heavily on volunteers to provide free and unbiased Medicare Counseling to beneficiaries through the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). Medicare Counselors also inform caregivers, family members and professionals in HR or the Healthcare Industry. The program provides important outreach to make the larger community aware of the services available to them.
Open Enrollment in the Fall is the busiest season for our counselors annually. In those eight weeks of Open Enrollment volunteers help beneficiaries evaluate their Prescription Drug Plan or Advantage Plan Choices so they can pick the best option for themselves for the coming year.
In the fourth Quarter of 2022 over 2,039 clients received counseling from our knowledgeable volunteers. That brings us to a total of 6,464 clients who were counseled by our volunteers in 2022! Volunteers with the SHIP program have also spent time on administrative tasks and doing outreach for the program. They have contributed a total of 8,969 hours in 2022. A huge shout out to the volunteers with this program. We are truly impressed with the extensive knowledge you retain to help others!

Art Builds Community Program Recap
Each year GNRC puts together a panel of volunteer judges for the Arts Builds Community grant program. Volunteers bring their expertise in art as well as community knowledge to read and evaluate grant proposals submitted for funding by the Tennessee Arts Commission. In 2022 we had 5 volunteer judges who gave 37.5 hours of their time to evaluate the proposals and make recommendations.

Admin and Communications Opportunities Recap
Administrative and Communications Opportunities include assistance with mailings, filing, shredding, scanning, photography, graphic design, social media work and translations. Thank you for bringing in your various skills to make our office run more smoothly and our outside appearance more polished through your involvement.

GNRC Office Move Recap
GNRC moved in the last half of 2022 and we couldn't have done it without all of your support! We consolidated our two offices and moved into a new shared space at 44 Vantage Way. It has been nice to all be together! We are grateful for everyone who helped us get ready for the move by helping with scanning and digitally filling documents for our Aging and Disability programs or packing us up at either office. You helped us be more efficient and lighter on moving day. Thank you!

We are looking forward to interacting with you through the variety of volunteer opportunities in 2023! Thanks for supporting GNRC's work to make Middle Tennessee the place to be.
Stay healthy, fabulous, and spread your contagious kindness in the world!
